Principal's Message

Principal's Message [67]

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Kankakee Valley Middle School! The Kankakee Valley School Corporation
and Kankakee Valley Middle School (KVMS) have had a rich tradition of excellence in education
for many years. At KVMS, the faculty and staff work very hard to identify strengths and
weaknesses in all students so that an appropriate and challenging curriculum can be
implemented for every student. Students will be routinely assessed in their classes with locally
developed assessments as well as a minimum of three times per year using the standardized
NWEA assessment. Feedback will be regularly provided to students and to parents regarding
the academic progress of students.

In addition to the exceptional academic program at KVMS, a variety of extra-curricular
opportunities are available to all students. We have over 25 after school clubs/sports that are
available for students as well as a strong co-curricular music and fine arts program. Regardless
of your interest area, there is something for everyone when it comes to the educational and
extra-curricular program at KVMS.

Students will spend three years in middle school learning and growing academically,
physically, emotionally, and socially. Our goal at KVMS is always to make those years fun and
exciting as we push students to reach their full potential in everything that they do. I would
encourage every student to get involved at KVMS beyond the regular school day by finding an
activity, club, or sport that they enjoy. These after school activities allow students to extend
their education at KVMS by working with friends and teammates toward a common goal with
the expertise of a mentor or coach guiding them every step of the way.

The office staff, guidance staff and school administration are always available to assist
parents, students, and the community as we work together to provide an excellent education
to every student. If you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance, please do not
hesitate to contact our office at 987-8810.

Yours in education,

Dr. Andy Sargent
